Welcome to Québec City

Québec City welcomes the 23rd ISFC and ISoFT’23 Conference in 2023

*** Given the extraordinary situation caused by the spread of COVID-19, the conference will be postponed to 2023. This decision, we believe, will help the organization maximize the likelihood of a presential event. We are looking forward to receiving in Québec City the international community of scientists related to innovations in fluorine chemistry.

The 23rd International Symposium on Fluorine Chemistry (23rd ISFC) which will be held in conjunction with the 9th International Symposium on Fluorous Technologies (ISoFT’23) conference will take place on July 23 – 28, 2023 in Québec City. Save these new dates!

The year, 2023, marks the third joint meeting between the triennial ISFC and the biennial ISoFT conference series. Since their inception, both series of prestigious conferences have provided forums for large numbers of international researchers from academia, research institutes, and industry who have interests that cover a broad range of fundamental and applied fluorine chemistry.

The Québec City Convention Centre is located in the heart of Québec City and is surrounded by world-class hotels and tourist attractions—including the historic district of Old Québec, designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1985. Québec City, the only fortified city in the Americas north of Mexico, was founded in 1608 by Samuel de Champlain and is located on the left bank of the St. Lawrence River near the mouth of the St. Charles River. It has a remarkable history, first as the fortress capital of New France from 1608 to 1759, and later as the capital of Lower Canada under British rule. Since the confederation (1867), Québec City has been the capital of “la belle province" and the home of the l’Assemblée Nationale du Québec. Visitors will particularly appreciate the picturesque “Vieux-Québec” (Old Québec) historic neighbourhood and its European feeling. Québec City is renowned for its “joie de vivre”, with its lively streets, cultural activities, and museums. The city is located near several national and provincial parks, providing ready access to wildlife and spectacular natural scenery. Québec City also affords access to cultural sites of indigenous people, such as the “Nation Huronne-Wendat”, which is a community within Québec City.

This joint conference will foster discussions and exchanges on all aspects of fundamental and applied fluorine chemistry that are of current importance to this multidisciplinary field. The program will comprise invited lectures by internationally known speakers working in academia, industry, and research institutes. Emphasis will be placed on creating opportunities for young scientists to network with both peers and established researchers in all fields of fluorine chemistry. Oral presentations and poster sessions will provide participants with opportunities to disseminate their most recent research and to become acquainted with current developments among the diversity of fields that are characteristic of fundamental and applied fluorine chemistry.

We are looking forward to an outstanding program with stimulating scientific discussions and providing you with the opportunity to experience Québécois and Canadian history, culture as well as the natural beauty of our country.

We look forward to seeing you at ISFC-ISoFT’21 in Québec City.
